Chevelle Newsome, Ph.D.
Chevelle Newsome holds a Ph.D. in political communication from the University of Oklahoma. Her research interests include ethics in public relations and politics in everyday human interaction. Dr. Newsome has published several articles relating to the communication of race in American society and women’s issues in healthcare. In addition, Dr. Newsome is co-author of a resource book on political commentary in the United States. Her university committee and community service activities include academic recruitment¸ curriculum development¸ literacy¸ collegiate strategic planning and diversifying the university professoriate. Her nonacademic experience includes: communication consultant to various non-profit organizations focused on child welfare and decreasing health disparities in minority communities.

Dr. Newsome currently serves as an administrator at California State University, Sacramento and Professor of Communication Studies. She is responsible for matters of graduate educational policy, curriculum development, and coordination with the college deans and faculty to create and maintain quality graduate programs |
